Return & Refund Policy
We asked our managers what’s going on so that you don’t have to and compiled what they told us to tell our customers in the event of the inevitable complaint or “Karen”.
Take a deep breath and read below, you’re not going to like this.
Brief Overview
Banana Brigade is a satirical storefront brought to you by Old Futility Factory LLC. We all have chosen to partner with some of the “best and select” International Distribution Fulfillment Centers to bring you brands you have never heard of and items that you’ll remain uncertain about. As you can guess, most of our items are sourced from countries so far away that the wait time alone will drive you bananas.
That stated, given we’re just a digital storefront with a finger’s worth of disgruntled support staff, we’re a bit limited in the ‘Things We Can Do’ department.
All returns, refunds, and replacements are subject to the distinct and concrete rules of each of our distributors (and their suppliers), on an item-by-item basis.
Embrace planned obsolescence and remember the “Three R’s”: Repurpose, Recycle, Repurchase.
General Ticket Eligibility and Time-Frames
- Damaged or Defective Items (Broken/Incorrect Items or Missing Parts): We have slightly good news. You need to report this to us within 7 days of delivery with photos/videos and order number. These items may be eligible for refund or replacement (subject to supplier approval).
- Items Not Received (Lost/Undelivered): Hope is fading fast… but give it a try – especially if tracking shows no confirmed delivery within the supplier’s delivery/dispute window. (Windows vary by region and seller, typically closing around either 7 or 15 days after the expected arrival date).
- Buyers Remorse (Mind Change/Sizing/Fit): Suck it up, buttercup… we’re not responsible for your life choices. You can open a claim but these types of returns are generally not covered unless the supplier’s policy for that item explicitly allows for returns; keep in mind that the you are responsible to pay for return shipping, along with any other fees, tariffs, and taxes… if this is even an option for you.
- Out-of-Stock or Unavailable To Ship: Good news, if we dispatch a worker into the warehouse for your item and they never return, you will undoubtedly receive a full refund, which subsequently means that we have finally dispatched a search party.
Condition Requirements (Tags, Original Packaging, and Returns)
- We expect our returned items in pristine condition. We have a team of an army of disgruntled capitalists inspecting each item to ensure this is the case. In order to be eligible for a return all items must be in their original condition with all original tags, labels, packaging, and included accessories. This means if it was in protective packaging it stays in protective packaging. Regardless of whether or not the tag said it could be ‘removed by the consumer’, a wise consumer would never risk the legalities in this case. Failure to follow this specific set of instructions will likely result in a claim denial.
How To Request A Refund/Exchange/Return
- Contact us with your order number, photos/videos of the issue, and the delivery tracking number.
- We will source the item and submit the claim to whichever fulfillment center it was acquired and work to follow their required process.
- If the supplier requires a return shipment, you will be given return instructions and must provide tracking. Follow any specific labeling or packaging instructions that are provided to you in this specific case. Important: don’t forget to tell your inanimate object that you appreciated it before sending it off into the ether.
Return Shipping and Cost
- Unless the supplier’s policy explicitly states otherwise, customers are responsible for the entire cost of return shipping, including any customs or import fees. That’s right kids, we’re talking international politics and business relations here.
Refund Methods/Timing
- Refunds are issued only after supplier approval. You will likely be notified about that. They will be processed via the original payment method when possible. The claim process can take a significant amount of time. If a refund is initiated please note that bank processing times also vary and may take several business days as well.
When Returns Are Denied or Reduced
- Claims may be denied or reduced if:
- The supplier’s dispute or return window has closed.
- The product shows signs of use, alteration, or is missing original tags/labels.
- Packaging, accessory, or tag removal is preventing supplier resale within per supplier rules.
- The issue is due to buyer error. This ranges from buyer’s remorse to an incorrectly fitting item.
- The item is otherwise listed as non-returnable by the supplier, or a request is otherwise denied.
Exchanges
- Exchanges are occasionally a possibility on select items. This is, of course, dependent upon supplier, stock, and policies, and they must take place within the aforementioned time-frames of package arrival. If the supplier can resend the correct item, we will arrange an exchange per their procedure and policy.
Customs, Duties, and Taxes
- Import duties or taxes are the buyer’s responsibility unless the supplier explicitly states otherwise.
Practical Notes for Consumers (You):
- Be sure to read each product description thoroughly, as even like products vary. We also paid good money to the person who wrote that description. We wanted this to be both a frustrating and nonsensical experience for you and hope to achieve that right away.
- Assuming all numbers translate to American will inevitably become an upsetting experience for you. Please note that some measurements are in metric units while others may be in imperial units (if they are even provided). When it comes to figuring out what that means, the mathematical conversion formulas, or why this matters in some cases you’re on your own.
- When purchasing garments or clothing (along with any other sizeable/wearable item) please understand that our products were intended for the international community as compared to that of the average and robust American. It would be always be wise to increase the size. That is to say size-up a notch or two if you’re in doubt. (Things are sized smaller than they claim to be or appear in the photographs.)
- Always make an ‘unboxing’ video of yourself immediately upon package arrival. Inspect your order thoroughly, document this via photograph, and if there are any issues reach out to us immediately. Your clock is ticking, not ours… post those photos and videos online as you wait! Shoutout to us, #BananaBrigade.
- Keep all original packaging, tags, and labels. Take clear photos/videos upon immediate inspection showing defects, damage, or incorrect items. Provide any and all requested information to us promptly to help expedite supplier review and our inevitable response to your return claim(s).
Contact
- Contact us with your order number, photos, video, and tracking information to start a claim. We’re also open to unsolicited bellybutton photos. Don’t ask, we’re not sure why ourselves.
